Help Santa and his Elves get to Utica for the new
official kickoff to the
Christmas Season at the 2009 Christmas on Main Street
celebration . . .
Now one week earlier – Saturday November 21, 2009
Christmas on Main Street has been a perennial
favorite of families as the kickoff to the Christmas season for over
two decades now. This year marks the 23rd year of
Christmas on Main Street and you will be pleased to see some new
faces and special attractions. In addition, Christmas on Main Street
has been moved up a week to make it easier for more people to
attend!
We are looking for sponsors for Christmas on Main
Street as well as the fireworks – individuals or groups can
participate. We are asking for your help to create memories for
future generations!
This year Christmas on Main Street will be
celebrated the Saturday before Thanksgiving (November 21, 2009)
rather than the Saturday after. So now you can come to Christmas on
Main Street and still have time to spend with your family on
Thanksgiving weekend.
New this year, representatives of the Mohawk Valley
Resource Center for Refugees and the Mohawk Valley Latino
Association have joined the planning committee to help us make
Christmas on Main Street a truly Multi-cultural celebration
befitting of our area.
Christmas on Main Street is held at the beautiful
Union Station and Historic Bagg’s Square on Main Street in Utica,
NY. This year’s Christmas on Main Street is being held the Saturday
before Thanksgiving, Saturday November 21, 2009. Christmas on Main
Street captures the traditions and atmosphere of an “Old Fashioned
Christmas” in the heart of the city where children’s dreams of
sugarplums, and visits with Santa come to life.
Bring back some memories and share the good times
with your children and neighbors as well as incorporating some more
modern and ethnic holiday traditions.
As always Christmas on Main Street is free to the
public and is attended annually by thousands who come from near and
far. Christmas on Main Street features, longtime favorites: Joe
Angerosa, the No Name Band, Mark Bolos plus more live entertainment,
face painting, food, and hot chocolate. Christmas on Main Street is
capped off at dusk with a spectacular fireworks display.
But . . . we need your help!
Your sponsorship can be in the form of a monetary donation, goods
and services, or perhaps a group of individuals to volunteer their
time on the day of the Christmas on Main Street event. Each
business and organization will be recognized for their
participation.
